Prequalification: Home Lot & Financing

There are several considerations in the home building process. The first is location and being able to finance your future home. Evaluation of your site is priority to ensure your lot is right for a HalePlus home and that the delivery can be accommodated. If your lot isn’t suitable, you may want to check out our HPM Homes program.

If you do not have a lot purchased yet, there are several land acquisition options:

  • Land loan
  • Cash purchase
  • Seller financing
  • Home equity loan if you already own a home

If you already own a lot, consider getting pre-qualified for a construction loan to understand how much you can afford to build. A construction loan is typically an interest only loan that is used to pay for the construction of your home and can be converted into a mortgage.

For more information about financing, contact your local bank, credit union or financial institution.

Layout & Design

Select your ideal layout from the HalePlus floor plans, then work with one of our designers to customize your new home by adding rooms, space or additional features. If you're planning to live off-the-grid, we can plan for it during the design phase.

Selecting Your General Contractor

The contractor coordinates the preparation of your lot for the install of your new HalePlus. This includes site preparation, wastewater, water connection, power and foundation.

Permitting & Construction

HPM will follow all County of Hawaii guidelines and walk you through the process, handling all the required permitting necessary to begin building. In the construction phase, HalePlus homes are pre-assembled using quality materials inside HPM’s manufacturing facility in Keaau then transported to your lot for installation. Installation & Finishing

We will work in partnership with your licensed contractor to coordinate together on the transportation, installation and give you an estimated completion date for your new home. HPM will provide you with a list of qualified contractors to choose from who are licensed to install HalePlus homes. Your contractor will have all the necessary pre-install preparations made and transports the finished HalePlus to your lot. Once transported, the contractor secures the home to its foundation; connects the utilities; installs the cabinets, lighting, plumbing fixtures and appliances; and applies the final coat of paint.
